Description

Suffering from severe pain, one Tramadol pill will provide the necessary relief. An effective narcotic-like drug can eliminate moderate to severe pain. The treatment is available in two forms, including immediate-release and extended-release for various purposes. While the first one promotes a temporary effect and is taken when-needed, the second form helps to eliminate the symptoms of pain all around the clock. Additionally, the pharmaceutical can be advised for other instances, not listed in the safety guide.

Tramadol Doses and Intake Recommendations

Discuss the details of Tramadol intake with your physician. It will help you select an optimal dose, intake duration and other features of the therapy. Administer the treatment strictly in accordance with doctor’s instructions. Do not change any settings, unless your doctor orders you to. Tramadol can be used with or without food, though at the same time daily (the extended-release form). Never break, chew or crush the capsule to prevent drug overdose. Do not stop the medication use suddenly, as you risk getting dangerous withdrawal symptoms.

Provide your healthcare specialist with the most accurate information about your health condition and other issues that may affect Tramadol effect. Based on the results of medical tests and provided information, your doctor will adjust a certain Tramadol dose. Generally, the dose depends on the treated disorder and varies from 25 mg taken daily in the morning up to maximal 300 mg Tramadol a day. Once you have forgotten to take a single dose, you’d better skip it. However, you can administer it as soon as possible, but only not when the next scheduled one should be taken within a short while.

Health Conditions Your Doctor Should Be Aware of

You should not start Tramadol 50mg therapy if you are:

  • Allergic to Tramadol, its components or similar pain relievers;
  • Are diagnosed with breathing problems, intestinal or stomach blockage;
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding;
  • Are younger than 16 or 18 years old (for immediate and extended-release Tramadol 50mg respectively).

Besides, warn the healthcare provider about other dysfunctions and impairments you have to both eliminate the risk of harmful seizure occurrence and make the course safe. Pay ultimate attention to conditions, including:

  • Metabolic disorder;
  • Alcohol or drug addiction;
  • Seizure problems;
  • Any stomach problem;
  • Severe kidney or liver diseases;
  • Issues with mental or psychological health and others.

Additionally, provide the list of pharmaceuticals you use, since their interactions with Tramadol may be potentially dangerous and life-threatening.

Tramadol 50mg comes as a tablet and an extended-release (long acting) tablet to take by mouth. The tablets are usually taken with or without food every 4 to 6 hours as needed. If you are taking tapentadol tablets, your doctor may tell you that you may take a second dose as soon as 1 hour after the first dose on your first day of treatment if needed to treat your pain. Do not take extra doses at any other time during your treatment and do not ever take extra doses of the extended-release tablets. The extended-release tablets are taken once every 12 hours. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take tapentadol exactly as directed.

If you are taking the extended-release tablets, swallow them one at a time with plenty of water. Swallow each tablet right after you put it in your mouth.

Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of tapentadol and gradually increase your dose until your pain is controlled. Your doctor may adjust your dose at any time during your treatment if your pain is not controlled. If you feel that your pain is not controlled, call your doctor. Do not change the dose of your medication without talking to your doctor.

After you take tapentadol for a period of time, your body may become used to the medication. If this happens, your doctor may need to increase your dose of medication to control your pain. Talk to your doctor about how you are feeling during your treatment with tapentadol.

Do not stop taking tapentadol without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually. If you suddenly stop taking tapentadol, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as restlessness; anxiety; irritability; teary eyes; yawning; chills; sweating; difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep; shivering; uncontrollable shaking of a part of your body; muscle, back, or joint pain; weakness; nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; stomach cramps; loss of appetite; runny nose, sneezing, or coughing; hair on your skin standing on end; fast breathing; fast heartbeat; widening of the pupils (black circles in the middle of the eyes); or hallucinations (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist).

Devastating Consequences of Tramadol 50mg Misuse

Taken right, Tramadol can lead only to common side effects that will disappear after a few drug intakes. Such reactions include headache, fatigue, weariness, nausea, vomiting, constipation, flushing and others. However, Tramadol misuse can cause more aggravating complications, such as allergic reactions, seizures, decreased cortisol range, sexual dysfunctions, skin reactions, etc.
